ASH-SHAHEED / ASH-SHAHID

(The All Observing Witnessing)

ASH-SHAHEED MEANING:

The Witness, The All-Observant, The Testifier.

Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is Ash-Shaheed (in Arabic: ٱلْشَّهِيدُ) meaning the one who is omnipresent and all-observing. There is nothing that we do that goes unnoticed, as He is ever-present and sees everything. His knowledge comprehends all, and He will be the ultimate witness on the day of judgment.

MENTIONS OF ASH-SHAHID:

FROM QURAN & HADITH

Arabic Root:

From the root shin-ha-dal (ش ه د), which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to bear witness, to offer testimony, to have knowledge of, to experience, to be present with.

An Attribute of Ilm (knowledge):

To be a witness is an attribute of knowledge. You cannot be a witness without being present or having knowledge or so unique insight or perspective on some matter. Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is Ash-Shaheed, THE witness. He is the knower of the Ghayb (the unseen), the things that are concealed or invisible to man. It is because of the attribute of being Ash-Shaheed that on the day of judgment, He will reveal Himself as being the witness to all that has happened.

"Return to your father and say, "O our father, indeed your son has stolen, and we did not testify except to what we knew. And we were not witnesses of the unseen," — (Qur'an 12:81)

This verse also helps us establish a connection to the previous name, Al-Ba'ith - The Resurrector. When we are raised from the grave, we will be held accountable. The only one who can be a judge is the one who has knowledge of the truth, "we did not testify except to what we knew." Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ knowledge is all-encompassing. He is Al-Alim (The All-Knowing) and Al-Khabir (The All-Aware). The explanation of the name Ash-Shaheed is similar to that of those names. We recommend reading the write-up provided for those names to become acquainted with the name of Ash-Shaheed.

Now, as a name of Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ it is mentioned throughout the Qur'an a total of 18 times.

Tip to help memorize the meaning of this name:

To help remember the meaning of Ash-Shaheed, it can be useful to make the connection in your mind with this name and the shahadah (the testimony of faith), Ashhadu an la ilaha ill-Allah was ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluh (I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is his servant and Messenger).[1] Here ashhadu means, "I bear witness," "I testify" and the name of Allah Ash-Shaheed is, "The Witnesser," "The Testifier."

Reflection:

The believer benefits from knowing Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is Ash-Shaheed. As we mentioned in previous names, it makes us cognizant of our actions. We will be held responsible on the day of judgment, so unattractive qualities within ourselves (e.g., envy, anger, pride, back-biting, etc.) should be conquered as these emotions work against you. This name also encourages humility, admitting mistakes, taking ownership over your actions, and seeking forgiveness from Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ. So on that day, these mistakes will already be wiped from your account.

Remember Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is enough for you as a witness. Whatever good you do, if no one sees or recognizes it, it doesn't matter as Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ sees all. Nothing goes unaccounted for. Having this knowledge allows a person to drop all forms of pettiness. Who cares if you did something good for someone and it wasn't reciprocated. You invited them to your wedding, but they didn't invite you. Allah is the witness, don't let others' lack of care affect the good you can do.

6. They attend gatherings of knowledge and circles of dhikr and surround those present with their wings.

7. The Angels record those who attend Jumu'ah

8. The Angels come and go among us

9. They come down when a believer recites the Qur'an

10. They convey the salaams of the ummah to the

11. They give glad tidings to the believers

12. The Angels and dreams

13. They fight alongside the believers and support them at times of war

Humayun Ahmed called a razakar a razakar with a bird's mouth.

The 9th death anniversary of the celebrated novelist Humayun Ahmed has been celebrated in Netrokona through various programs. Black flag hoisting, holding of black badges, laying of wreaths on the temporary portrait of the author, mourning procession, discussion meeting, Qur'an recitation, milad and prayers were held at the author's self-established Shaheed Smriti Vidyapeeth in Kutubpur village of Kendua around 9am on Monday.

Presided over the discussion, the headmaster of Shaheed Smriti Vidyapeeth. Asaduzzaman. Conducted by Assistant Headmaster Sharif Anis Ahmed.

Humayun Ahmed's uncle Altafur Rahman Ahmed, school management committee member Bakhtiyar Ahmed, school teacher Tuhin Sarkar, Mahbub Alam, social worker Azharul Islam, 10th class student Ehsanul Shishar, same class student Kakuli Bishwasharma, ninth class student Fahmid Haque and others spoke.

Meanwhile, a discussion meeting was organized by Humayun Ahmed Smriti Sangsad at the office of Bangla Netra in Moktarpara area of ​​Netrokona town around 12:30 pm. Poet Tanvir Jahan Chowdhury, president of the organization presided over it. Performed by Kamal Hossain, General Secretary of the organization.

وَلَا تَقُوۡلُوۡا لِمَنۡ يُّقۡتَلُ فِىۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ اَمۡوَاتٌ ؕ بَلۡ اَحۡيَآءٌ وَّلٰـكِنۡ لَّا تَشۡعُرُوۡنَ‏ . AND DONOT SPEAK OF THOSE WHO ARE SLAIN IN THE WAY OF ALLAH AS DEAD, NAY! This Amazing verse belongs to Surah Baqarah verse no 154 reminding us about the life enjoys by the martrys (who died in the cause of Allah). . ﴿ وَلَا تَقُولُواْ لِمَن يُقۡتَلُ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَمۡوَٲتُۢ‌ۚ بَلۡ أَحۡيَآءٌ۬ ﴾ (And say not of those who are killed in the way of Allah, "They are dead.'' Nay, they are living,) indicates that the martyrs are alive and receiving their sustenance. . Abdullah said: We asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about this verse and he said, (The souls of the martyrs are inside green birds and move about in Paradise wherever they wish. Then, they take refuge in lamps that are hanging under the Throne (of Allah). Your Lord looked at them and asked them, `What do you wish for' They said, `What more could we wish for while You have favored us with what You have not favored any other of your creation' He repeated the question again. When they realize that they will be asked (until they answer), they said, `We wish that You send us back to the earthly life, so that we fight in Your cause until we are killed in Your cause again,' (because of what they enjoy of the rewards of martyrdom). The Lord then said, `I have written that they will not be returned to it (earthly life) again.) Muslim reported in his Sahih. . [Ash-Shaheed/The Witness] "And He is the witness of all things." ‎﴾‬‎3‬‎4‬‎‬‎.‬‎4‬‎7‬‎﴿‬ There is nothing that we do but Allah is a witness to it. His knowledge not only comprehends all things, but is also neither subject to nor obliterated by time "And, [O Muhammad], you are not [engaged] in any matter or recite any of the Qur'an and you [people] do not do any deed except that We are witness over you when you are involved in it. And not absent from your Lord is any [part] of an atom's weight within the earth or within the heaven or [anything] smaller than that or greater but that it is in a clear register." ‎﴾‬‎‎1‬‎0‬‎.‬‎6‬‎1‬﴿‬ Allah is a witness to every activity in the universe: be it the words of the Messenger or the falling raindrops, so we are certain that no truth is ever lost. "Does it not suffice that your Lord is the Witness of all things?"‎﴾‬‎4‬‎1‬‎‎.‬‎5‬‎3‬‎﴿‬ Allah also suffices as a witness to the great fact that His messengers spoke the truth: "But Allah bears witness to that which He has revealed to you. He has sent it down with His knowledge, and the angels bear witness [as well]. And sufficient is Allah as Witness." ‎﴾‬‎4‬‎.‬‎1‬‎6‬‎6‬‎﴿‬ To be a witness implies being present at an event. Allah is never absent from any place, or any time, but His presence is independent of such relative conceptions, which spring from of our limited human nature. "Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent." ‎﴾‬‎7‬‎.‬‎7‬‎﴿‬ Our day to day life should all reflect our concern for the truth. For example, whilst yourself being a witness at an event, our loyalty should only be to truth and we should not get swayed by any other consideration. The Prophet Muhammad ‎ﷺ‎‬ made it clear that false testimony is a major sin: "I heard Anas b. Malik saying: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) talked about the major sins, or he was asked about the major sins. Upon this he observed: Associating anyone with Allah, killing of a person, disobedience to parents. He (the Prophet further) said: Should I not inform you about the gravest of the major sins, and (in this connection) observed: False utterance or false testimony."- Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 167
